Head Cider Maker/Cellar Operations Lead

This critical role will lead the cellar team in all areas of the cider making process including product development, inventory and supply chain management, and quality control.

The basics:
Lost Boy Cider is located at 317 Hooffs Run Dr in historic Alexandria Virginia, seven miles from Washington DC. Our production space consists of a combined 6,000sq.ft. retail tasting room and wholesale production area. The cidery opened in June to an extraordinary reception which continues today. The position start date is open and we are actively pursuing highly qualified candidates. Annual production goal totals: 2,000 barrels. Prior experience as a cidermaker is absolutely necessary.

Responsibilities:
Product and recipe development
Supply chain management, juice inventory
Quality control
Fermentation Vessel and Brite Tank CIP/sanitation
Maintain general cider house cleanliness and sanitation
Clean and fill kegs
Oversight of canning line
General equipment maintenance
Accurate record keeping
Barrel maintenance and oversight
Assist Production Manager with day to day operations
Forklift operation
Scissor Lift operation
Staff packaging line if needed
Additional duties may be assigned throughout the cider house as necessary
Requirements:
2+ years wine/cider making experience
Willing to travel
True grit and the ability to adapt on the go
Positive attitude while working in a team environment
Strong desire to learn and grow with the company
Strong organizational skills
Ability to lift 55lbs to shoulder, and 160lbs to hip
Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, chemicals, wet floors/equipment while keeping to strict sanitary requirements
Familiarity with transferring and carbonating finished product
Familiarity with production safety procedures and equipment
Selected candidate must pass a post-offer, pre-employment background screening
